When will we ever learn?

By refusing to really focus on what actually killed these children, we continue to ignore the 'proverbial bull,' frequently brought to our attention by Copenhagenize.

What is the message here when we immediately resort to Australia's standard 'go-to' position (more road-skills for cyclists) in times of such tragedies?

WHY DON'T WE EVER TEACH AUSTRALIAN MOTORISTS HOW TO SHARE OUR ROADS WITH ALL CURRENT ROAD USERS & ALL POTENTIAL ROAD USERS?

  1. Those two stories are just obscene, Sue. Unbelievable.

Not only did the helmet laws not help this child, the lack of other laws (strict liability) probably cost him his life. And the response? More training? You have GOT to be kidding me?

I might start brushing up on my Dutch! :)

  2. Dreadful reporting. Why even mention a helmet? And what does "after the bike he was riding collided with a dual cab ute" mean? I somehow doubt that's what happened.

The worst thing about it is that a family now has to live the rest of their lives having lost a son and suffer unimaginable grief.

"Stop the child murder" as the Dutch say.

  3. I agree with you both 100% - Australia has much to learn and it's morally indefensible that we're not even trying
